WHY A MUSIC FESTIVAL AND BENEFIT?  The Ghost Ballerinas decided to create this Shelbyville-based music festival after being inspired by the artist who painted the album cover for their upcoming sophomore album.  Tim Sharp is a 23-year old artist from Australia who lives with Autism.  After establishing a lasting relationship with Tim, the band felt inspired to organize a music festival in Shelbyville to help the Bedford County Association of Exceptional Students (BCAES) and the Autism Society of Middle Tennessee (ASMT) – two great organizations who are providing incredible assistance free of charge to the Autism community in our area.

Tim Sharp is know worldwide for his brilliant, quirky and colorful artwork. When he was 11 years old, he created the superhero cartoon character “Laser Beak Man” which has been made into an animated TV series in Australia.  As a thank you to Tim, who has been a beacon of light for so many who, like him, live with Autism, The Ghost Ballerinas wrote the song, “Laser Beak Man” featured as Song #1 on their upcoming album. They incorporated many of the quirky titles of Tim’s paintings into the lyrics and made Tim co-writer on the song:)  100% of the profits from the song, Laser Beak Man, will be shared with Tim.  It takes strength for families to cope with Autism and Tim’s family is no exception. Tim’s mother Judy is a brave woman, determined to provide the best for her family. Tim’s brother, Sam is an Australian swimmer scheduled to compete in the Australian Olympic trials in April, 2012.  If they can raise the funds for travel, Tim Sharp and his family are planning on coming to the US in August to be a part of our festival!
